Extenda Retail Pharma Suite celebrates 10 years after dispensing its first prescription this Sunday, February 2.

The system, developed by Pharma Solutions, now part of the Extenda Retail Portfolio, was the first new prescription-handling system developed after the Swedish pharmacy monopoly ended in 2010. Since then, the system has continuously been updated to fulfill regulatory, technical and customer-usability needs.

Large department store Åhléns was the first new pharmacy chain to use the brand new Pharma Suite, and doors opened to pharmacy customers on February 2, 2010 at the Åhléns’ Skanstull store in Stockholm.

ICA, via ICA MAXI, soon followed in Åhlens’ footsteps and opened their Cura pharmacies in partnership with Pharma Solutions. Additionally, Medstop and Apotek Hjärtat switched over to Pharma Suite during 2010-2011.
