SPH Analytics Awarded CMS Interim Vendor Approval for OAS CAHPS

SPH Analytics, a leader in action analytics, announced their interim approval by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) to administer the Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (OAS CAHPS) survey. This approval will allow SPH Analytics (SPHA) to begin survey administration in January 2016. Final approval is contingent upon CMS acceptance of SPHA’s Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), satisfactory results of all oversight activities conducted by the Coordination Team, and participation in all OAS CAHPS Survey Vendor Update training sessions. The interim approval enables SPHA to conduct the OAS CAHPS survey by mail, telephone, or with mixed data collection.

The OAS CAHPS survey measures the patient’s overall care and surgery in hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) and Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) and is a resource for monitoring and guiding quality improvements in these facilities.

SPHA legacy company, Voyance, developed the only recognized benchmarking program for ambulatory and outpatient clinics giving SPHA a history of helping hospital outpatient departments and clinics measure performance and drive process improvement.

“This approval improves the ability for SPHA to serve our outpatient and ambulatory surgery clients,” said Al Vega, CEO of SPH Analytics. “By building on the experience and relationships we’ve established with our existing clients, we can help all OAS providers meet the increasing CMS requirements.”

OAS CAHPS is the seventh CAHPS survey approval in the SPHA portfolio that includes approvals to administer the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), Hospital CAHPS (HCAHPS), Medicare CAHPS, CAHPS for ACOs, ICH CAHPS, and Medicare HOS surveys. The company is also NCQA-certified to conduct the Commercial and Medicaid CAHPS and CAHPS PCMH surveys.

“We want to be an end-to-end provider for all healthcare leaders to empower healthcare transformation,” said Vega.

CAHPS is a program and registered trademark of the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
